Dear colleagues,

It is my pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the International Board of the Blue Danube Symposia on Heterocyclic Chemistry! These meetings were initiated over 30 years ago as regional event of Austrian, Czech, Hungarian, and Slovakian scientists, later also welcoming Slovenian colleagues, and grew rapidly into a biannual international symposium series. Besides the prestigious lineup of invited speakers these meetings provided a unique opportunity to meet friends and fellow scientists of the "Blue Danube countries", in particular for the younger generations. Unfortunately the recent epidemic put a hold on the face-to-face meetings so we decided to launch a virtual event for young scientists to be able to showcase their results. I am pleased to announce that the 1st Blue Danube PhD Symposium will take place on the 4th February, 2022, as a virtual event. We invite 2 presenters from each Blue Danube country who will be nominated by the respective countries. We hope that in the future this series might also be extended to a series of live events.

I am looking forward to welcoming you as a presenter or in the audience of the meeting! Please don’t forget to register so that you’d receive the conference link!
